Chinese hit movie “Finding Mr. Right” not only connects two lonely hearts in Seattle, it has also connected Seattle with audiences in China. Since March, the film has rapidly hit $81 million in the Chinese box office, becoming the highest-grossing hit in recent years.
“Finding Mr. Right” is a Seattle-set romantic comedy directed by Xue Xiao Lu, starring Tang Wei, Wu Xiubo and Hai-Qing. After the release of the film, Seattle has seen more tourists and investors from China.
The cast and crew of “Finding Mr. Right” will be back in Seattle Oct. 16 to accept the Golden Key award from the City of Seattle the American Film Institute. City of Seattle representatives, local filmmakers and other guests will attend this event, which includes a screening of the movie.
This event will be hosted by Chinese comedian and talk show host Brother Sway, who says because of the movie, Chinese are more interested in Seattle. According to Brother Sway, there may be a sequel to “Finding Mr. Right.” (end)
