Seattle City Councilmember Bruce Harrell, a former contender for the mayor’s race, has announced his endorsement to Sen. Ed Murray on Sept. 6. Former Seattle City Councilmember Peter Steinbrueck also ran for mayor in the primary but has yet to decide who to endorse.
“I haven’t heard any specifics from any of the candidates [Mayor Mike McGinn and Sen. Murray],” said Steinbrueck, “I want to hear what they say about the future [of the city] and policies.”
For instance, Steinbrueck told the Asian Weekly that crime and violence have increased in some neighborhoods, and he didn’t hear what the candidates would do about it.
Harrell and Steinbrueck each had over 20,000 votes in the primary, representing roughly 35 percent of the vote. (end)
