The University of Washington’s 2013 Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) honored 16 students in late May, three of which are Asian and Pacific Americans.
Filipino-American Bryan Dosono, a senior studying human–computer interaction, received the President’s Award. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a Ph.D at Syracuse University.
Korean-American Heebeen Kim, who is studying biochemistry and biology, was honored as an Education Opportunity Program Celebration Scholar. She plans to study pharmacology following graduation.
Also honored as an Educational Opportunity Program Celebration Scholar, Vietnamese-American Tony Vo is planning on becoming a traveling nurse. Vo was also appointed director of the Asian Student Commission for the coming school year.
The Education Opportunity Program is administered through the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity and promotes academic success and graduation for under-represented minority, economically-disadvantaged, and first-generation students. (end)
