The Seattle community celebrated the life of Kip Tokuda at Tokuda’s public memorial on July 21 at the University of Washington. Over 800 people attended, with reflections presented by Gov. Jay Inslee, Mayor Mike McGinn, Jill Nishi, King County Exec. Dow Constantine, Betsy Wells, Laurie Lippold, Lori Matsukawa, State Rep. Eric Pettigrew, and Dale Minami. Others, including U.S. Ambassador of China Gary Locke and Rep. Adam Smith, attended but did not speak.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kip Tokuda Legacy Fund at the following address: Seattle Foundation, IBM Building, 1200 5th Ave., Ste. 1300, Seattle, Wash. 98101. The fund will support the work about which Tokuda was passionate. (end)
