The Vietnamese Friendship Association (VFA) hosted their fifth annual Benefit Dinner on April 20 at the Garfield Community Center, raising operating funds and honoring community leaders for their accomplishments.
Linh Thach, Juan Carlos Vasquez, and former Starbucks executive Tim Schottman were honored for their community leadership. Thach was highlighted for his community work, Vasquez as a rising youth leader, and Schottman for his work between Western and Vietnamese culture.
Over 300 people attended the event, raising over $70,000.
The VFA was established in 1978 in order to help Vietnamese refugees and immigrants to adjust to life in the United States. They offer ESL schooling, job training, and youth leadership training. (end)
