OCA releases book on Washington state Chinese

May 27, 2013 By Northwest Asian Weekly

https://i2.wp.com/nwasianweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/32_22/names_chinese.jpgOCA Greater Seattle released a book, “Chinese in Washington State,” on May 13, written by Art Chin and Doug Chin on the history of Chinese people in the state of Washington.

The publication documents the history of the Chinese in Washington, starting from before Washington’s admission to the union running through present day. The book also covers the anti-Chinese movement in Washington and its outcomes.

“With the exception of some limited information on the anti-Chinese riots in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington state history books have completely ignored the presence of the Chinese,” said Doug Chin, OCA Greater Seattle president and author. “We want the public, including the Chinese, to know about the legacy of Chinese in this state, particularly the contributions they made to this state and the hardships the early Chinese endured.”

The book can be purchased from The Wing Luke or Kinokuniya Book Store. (end)
