Join a Danny Woo Community Garden work party. Beginning March 16, you can get dirty volunteering at the garden. Sign-up for a shift between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Work parties will be held the third Saturday of each month.
Hearty souls are needed on Thursdays to complete the stairway-rebuilding project. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are both helpful to dig, move gravel, and lay timbers.
Skilled or experienced volunteers are especially needed for tree pruning, structural maintenance, “Chicken-sitting,” recruiting interested individuals, businesses, and foundations to support the Garden with in-kind or direct financial contributions, Children’s Garden Education Program, translation and interpretation for meetings with elder gardeners, and the compost project.
Last year, approximately 200 volunteers contributed over 2500 hours of their time to the Danny Woo Community Garden, helping teach 135 students about sustainable gardening, and supporting 70 elderly, low-income gardeners grow healthy, nutritious food. (end)
