The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) hosted its annual Lunar New Year Banquet and Silent Auction on the night of Saturday, Feb. 9, raising donations for the Northwest Journalists of Color scholarship, which has supported more than 100 college students since its establishment in the mid-1980s. The auction raised over $1,500. The event was held at the Acquabar Bistro and Lounge in Belltown.

Approximately 50 people attended the event. Auction items were sourced from local businesses and AAJA members.

Thanh Tan, a former broadcast journalist and current Seattle Times editorial writer, was the emcee for the event. Julie Pham, managing editor of the Northwest Vietnamese News, was the keynote speaker. (end)
