When Chris Lu, President Obama’s Cabinet secretary, was in town as the commencement speaker for North Seattle Community College (NSCC)’s graduation ceremony on June 15, I thought that I could get the latest scoop on Obama.
“I can [only] give you the official version,” he said during the interview.
My high hopes went down the drain. That’s no fun! The official view is more commonly known as the boring stuff.
However, with this being an election year, anything a high-level White House official says can be scrutinized. While I do understand, the stance was surely a letdown for this journalist. But Lu did not leave us feeling empty. He gave a great commencement speech to the graduating students at NSCC.
It is great for NSCC to have a prominent figure sharing his wise words to the graduating youth. What a brilliant idea for President Mark Mitsui to invite Lu as its commencement speaker. (end)
