On April 7, more than 100 guests attended the inaugural party and dinner for the International Leadership Foundation (IFL)’s Seattle chapter at the home of IFL Seattle Advisory Board member Shiao-Yen Wu. California Congressmember Judy Chu, the first United States congresswoman of Chinese descent was in attendance, along with 20 young people from ILF’s leadership camp. Chu acted as speaker at the event, along with Dr. Peter Ku, former chancellor emeritus of Seattle Community Colleges, and Mark Matsui, president of North Seattle Community College. IFL works to promote civic awareness, public service, and economic effectiveness of the Asian Pacific American community by providing scholarships and leadership training to APA college students across the country.
