On April 13, more than 5,000 Boeing employees and attendees commemorated the 4,000th next-generation 737 plane, made for China Southern Airlines, the sixth largest airline company worldwide. The celebration took place at Boeing Field, where Dong Su Guang, executive vice president of China Southern Airlines, and Beverly Wyse, vice president and general manager of the 737 program, were also in attendance. More 737s have been produced than any other commercial jetliner in history. Wyse notes that the success of the Boeing 737 is the result of the effort and expertise of thousands of employees in private, government, and commercial sectors.
Boeing’s 4000th next-generation 737 will be the 75th 737 delivered to China Southern. The carrier has additional planes on order. (end)
