PALEMBANG, Indonesia (AP) _ Thailand won 12 gold medals on Saturday to climb to second place in the medal standings behind host Indonesia at the 26th Southeast Asian Games.
Thailand dominated the sailing events by winning four of the five gold medals on offer, and now has 81 total golds.
Indonesia top the table with 138 golds after dominating the badminton events by winning four of Saturday’s finals.
Vietnam dropped to third place in the medals table with 78 goals after winning six events, the same number as Malaysia and Singapore.
About 6,000 athletes from 11 countries are participating in the biennial games, which runs until Thursday.
