Flooding in Thailand since July has resulted in the death of more than 300 people and has caused billions of dollars worth of damage. About 61 of the country’s 77 provinces (including Bangkok) have been affected so far. More than eight million people have been impacted.
The nonprofit Thai Association of Washington State (TAWA), the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles, and the local Thai community are asking for donations to help victims of the flooding. TAWA is acting as the primary contact in collecting donations, which will be passed on to the Thai Consulate and donated to the Thai Red Cross.
There are several ways to donate. The collection is expected to end Oct. 31.
1. Online donation through www.thaiwashington.org.
2. Contributing to donation boxes, which will be placed at participating
restaurants and religious functions.
3. Dining at participating restaurants.
Proceeds will go toward the Red Cross.
