The University of Washington Alumni Association (UWAA) Multicultural Alumni Partnership (MAP) is holding the 17th Annual MAP Bridging the Gap Scholarship Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Cascade Room at Haggett Hall on the UW Seattle campus.
Speakers at the event will be UW President Michael Young and UW Vice President and Vice Provost for Minority Affairs Sheila Edwards Lange. The emcees will be Congressman Jim McDermott and Dr. Constance Rice. Featured will be King County Councilmember Larry Gossett.
Of six honorees (two of whom are sharing an award), three are Asian American.
Joey and Vera Ing, husband and wife, will be receiving the Joint Distinguished Alumni Award. Cynthia del Rosario will be receiving the Vice Provost Community Building Award.
Other honorees are Judge LeRoy McCullough, Roy P. Diaz, and Dr. Juleann Cottini Gandara. (end)
