Aug. 26 marked the success of several months of hard work, dedication, and commitment in the Chinese community. In Chinatown, there were two separate events held at the same time, both for bettering the community.

At the House of Hong dinner for the surveillance camera project, to fight against crime, 350 people showed up. Two blocks away was an event to raise funds for Washington State Chinese Cancer Network Association (WSCCNA) at the New Hong Kong Restaurant. Some cancer survivors came from as far as Bellingham to attend WSCCNA’s dinner.

Together, the events raised more than $50,000, with 600 people attending. What a record!  Coincidentally, the key organizers and founders for both groups are women. To the female warriors: you demonstrate vitality and tenacity.

We applaud you. ♦
