The Ethnic Heritage Council hosted the 27th Annual Naturalization Ceremony at Seattle Center. More than 500 people from 80 countries were sworn in by the Honorable Richard. C. Tallman, U.S. Circuit Court Judge.
The ceremony included speeches by Sen. Maria Cantwell, Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed, and U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott. Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn served as master of ceremonies.
Filipinos made up the largest group of people naturalized that day, with 55 candidates. ♦
