The Chinese and Japanese American communities came together at the House of Hong to raise $76,712 toward the American Red Cross Japan Relief Fund.
In addition to many individual donors, House of Hong owner, Tan Tho Tien, and its wait staff donated a 10-course dinner for nearly 500 people, as well as labor and tips. Frank Lau, of Frank Lau Jewelry, donated about $8,500 worth of jewelry to the charity auction. Members of the Ming Ya Buddhist Temple donated $12,000. ♦
