Branda Pui Chu Luke
Branda Pui Chu Luke passed away on March 18 after a three-year battle with lung cancer. She was 57.
She was born on March 17, 1954, in Guangdong, China. She grew up in Hong Kong and immigrated to Seattle in 1969. She graduated from the University of Washington.
Branda married John Cheong Luke in 1975. They had three children, Curtis, Bryant, and Wendy. In 1991, the two divorced, and Branda was determined to raise her three children on her own. With no previous job experience, Branda worried about her prospects. Her friend, May Wan, asked her, “What can you do?”
Branda replied, “I am good with people.” This sentiment came to define her successful career.
She worked as a private banker, helping new immigrants open accounts. In 1994, she became a mortgage broker and received many accolades for her work.
Branda loved to help people get into new homes and realize their dreams of home ownership. She particularly enjoyed the challenges of helping those who were told they could never own a home.
She is survived by her three children, Curtis, Bryant, and Wendy, daughter-in-law Michele, and her two grandchildren, Jayden and Jazmine. ♦
