The Historic Chinatown Gate Foundation held a dinner at the House of Hong Restaurant to raise funds for seed money to build a second Chinatown Gate (the East Gate) and to help maintain the first gate (the West Gate).
The event started with a performance by Tony Au’s Lion Dance Team followed by both a silent and live auction. The Gate Foundation gave out two awards. Vi Mar was given the Personal Community Service Award. The officers of the Oak Ting Family Association and Tuck Eng, president of the Gate Foundation, were given the Organization Community Service Award.
The event raised more than $20,000. ♦
