The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities awarded the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award to the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience’s YouthCAN, a program for high school students, in a White House ceremony. First Lady Michelle Obama currently serves as the honorary chair of the committee.
Selected from a national pool of more than 400 nominees, the Wing’s YouthCAN was one of only 15 winners across the nation to receive the highest honor for after-school arts and humanities programs. In addition to the national recognition, awardees will also receive $10,000 to support programming and engage more young people from the community. ♦
