I am not kidding when I say I wear hats. Since fall’s arrival, I have dressed myself in fashionable baseball-style hats to keep warm. Vanity also plays a part.
“It has taken 10 years off of you,” said one of my staff members. Even five years would make a woman happy.
Hats are the best way to disguise aging and give a sense of youth. They also give me a bright dash of color.
With a cap, gone are the gray hairs on my head. Gone are my forehead wrinkles.
I used to color my hair 15 years ago. But after a while, the thought of suffering at the hair salon for half a day and smelling like chemicals made me too dizzy.
Once, I was elated when I received a junk e-mail about a new invention that said you don’t need to color your hair to retain black hair. I forwarded it to my hair stylist. She burst my bubble. “If this is true, hair stylists would be out of business,” she responded.
I’m going with hats since I don’t favor wigs. Hats are cheaper and easier to maintain than wigs or hair coloring. Don’t tell my hair stylist though. If she finds out, the next time she cuts my hair, she might be mad as hell and shave me bald. ♦
