The ESL/Literacy Program at the Chinese Information and Service Center (CISC) seeks friendly, patient, and dependable volunteer teachers and tutors to help Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants achieve U.S. citizenship. This is a great way to gain both teaching experience with new immigrant ESL (English as a second language) students and greater exposure to different Asian languages and cultures.
Being bilingual in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Vietnamese is required for teaching positions, except for “Talk Time” sessions. No teaching experience necessary. CISC will train.
CISC requests at least 1–3 hours once a week and a 3-month commitment. ♦
