Seattleite Phoumy Bobby Bounkeua received the American Academy of Physician Assistant’s 2010 Humanitarian Physician Assistant of the Year Award at the organization’s 38th Annual Physician Assistant Conference in Atlanta.
Bounkeua was awarded for his continuing medical education (CME) training project, which provides a foundation for rural health workers in Thailand and Laos to travel from their villages to large cities to participate in further medical education.
Bounkeua has a doctorate and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician (AAPA), former president of the Washington State Academy of Physician Assistants, and co-founder of AAPA’s Asian and Pacific Islander Physician Assistant Caucus. He is currently employed by the VA Puget Sound Healthcare System. ♦
