The Stevenson Elementary School chess team, for the fifth time, brought home trophies from the National Elementary School Chess Championship, held in Atlanta. This event brings together more than 2,000 K–6 students representing 40 states.
Stevenson Elementary had 22 players on four teams. It won first place in K–3 unrated, K-3 U800, and K-5 U900 sections and won second in the K–5 open championship section.
Players from Stevenson were Brian Zhu, Mayhul Arora, Patrick Wang, Daniel Hua, Amith Vanmane, Nathaniel Yee, Kevin Ma, Faris Gulimali, Nicolai Warner, Nathan Shao, Benjamin Cheung, Matthew Solomon, Tudor Muntianu, Jason Yang, Derek Zhang, Terrance Li, Colin Tang, Jacob Zhang, Gabriel Shen, Timmy Wang, Richard Yang, and Rahul Sehgal. ♦
