U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will continue to accept H-1B non-immigrant petitions subject to the fiscal year 2011 (FY 2011) cap.
The USCIS has received approximately 13,500 H-1B petitions and is counting toward the 65,000 cap. If the USCIS receives the necessary number of petitions to meet the cap, it will issue an update to advise the public.
U.S. businesses use the H-1B program to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise; examples are scientists, engineers, and computer programmers. ♦
