President Obama nominated Suresh Kumar as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Director General of the United States and Foreign Commercial Service, Department of Commerce.
Kumar is president and managing partner of KaiZen Innovation. He served as a special adviser to the Clinton Foundation where he worked with governments in Sub-Saharan Africa and corporate CEOs to establish private-public partnerships to stimulate economic development in the region.
Kumar has an economics degree from Delhi University, an MBA from Bombay University, and is alum of the Thunderbird International Consortium Program.
Kumar’s wife, Sheila Kumar, is vice president for Johnson & Johnson’s Consumer Services, Inc. Their daughter, Pooja Kumar, is a Harvard-trained physician. Their son, Aditya Kumar, is currently special assistant to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Director of Special Projects. ♦
