Gov. Chris Gregoire appointed Kendee Yamaguchi as the executive director of the Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA). Yamaguchi is a third generation Japanese American born and raised in Washington.
Yamaguchi served as director in the Office of Management and Administration at the White House. She has worked in the Office of Public Liaison during the signing of the executive order establishing the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. She has experience working as a television executive and a staff member in the Legislature. More recently, she was an attorney in private practice.
Yamaguchi earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and public communications with a minor in international affairs from American University. Yamaguchi earned her Juris Doctorate from the Seattle University School of Law.
Yamaguchi’s appointment was effective Nov. 2nd. ♦
