
Lori Matsukawa
KING 5 co-anchor Lori Matsukawa was named 2009 Communicator of the Year by the Seattle professional chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC). Matsukawa will receive the award on Oct. 17 at the Chapter Awards Breakfast at AWC’s National Conference at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel.
Matsukawa is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stanford University. She earned a master’s degree in communications from University of Washington in 1996 and was named to UW’s Communication Alumni Hall of Fame in 2005.
A founding member of the Seattle chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association, she received that organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 in recognition of her effort “to build a culture of diversity in newsrooms by mentoring hundreds of young Asian American journalists.” ♦
