On April 24, community members came together at the Westin Hotel in Seattle to celebrate Ron Sims, King County Executive and soon-to-be deputy secretary of Housing and Urban Development, at an event called “Ron Sims Appreciation Soiree.”
Mike Gregoire, who came in place of his wife, Gov. Chris Gregoire, declared that day to be Ron Sims Day. Sims was also honored by Chinese community members.
Entertainment for the night included music by pianists Kent Stevenson and vocalist Karyn Swartz, as well as an international lion dance team.
More than 500 people attended the event and the $31,000 raised benefited Northwest Harvest.
