Letter: Voong fingerpointing is misguided

May 1, 2009 By Northwest Asian Weekly

To the Editor:

I appreciated the interview with Bai Ling (April 18, issue 17) — I love that girl. I just wish she would have commented on her role in “Beautiful Country.”

It’s always great to see the kids getting scholarships [for diversity]. I just wish there were more Asian companies supporting diversity.
However, the letter to the editor entitled “What’s in a name?” (about the New York Chinese-Vietnamese shooter Jiverly Voong) sort of irks me. It seems that [the author of the letter], Charles Lui of Issaquah, believes that various Asian ethnic groups should not try to shirk responsibility for the tragedy in Binghamton, but [should] blame America [instead].
