The University of Washington’s China Studies Program and College of Built Environments (former College of Architecture and Urban Planning) is hosting one of the first China–U.S. professional exchanges on the issue of regional sustainable development from May 5 to May 9.
The event will take place at several sites around the Seattle area. It will feature a mix of expert lectures by Chinese and American development experts, cross-cultural dia-logue, scenario planning, and case study tours. Government policy makers, designers, planners, and engineers, and local and civic leaders are invited to come together to discuss the many challenges they face meeting the economic, environmental, and social needs of present and future generations.
In addition to exchanging knowledge and solutions, the workshop is intended to forge partnerships to help solve pressing problems on specific projects, and to facilitate long-term cross-cultural relationships. (end)
