The First Annual Tomodachi Lun-cheon took place on March 12. It was organized by the Nikkei Heritage Association of Washington dba Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Washington (NHAW/JCCCW). The event raised $25,000, which will go toward a new facility for the organization.
The event featured speakers and artists supportive of Japanese and Jap-anese American culture and heritage. NHAW/JCCCW hopes renovations will begin in about a year. Currently, it has the potential of receiving up to $2 million from Washington state’s capital budget.
