Bellevue Community College students Paula Kosasih and Clairine (Claire) Runtung, international students from Indonesia currently living in Bellevue, have been named to the 2009 All-Washington Academic Team.
Recognizing community and technical college students in the state, the All-Washington Academic Team is a project of Phi Theta Kappa international honor society and the American Association of Community Colleges.
Kosasih is heavily involved in campus activities, serving as the communications officer for Phi Theta Kappa, the vice president of the Chemistry Club, and the president of the Indonesian Fellowship Club.
Runtung is also involved in campus organizations. Last year, she was the president of Phi Theta Kappa. She currently works part time as a peer assistant in BCC’s International Student Programs office and as a business statistics tutor in the college’s accounting lab.
All-Washington Academic Team members were honored by Gov. Chris Gregoire at a ceremony in Olympia on March 26. Each member received $750 in scholarships.
