Want to brush up on your Spanish? Trying to become fluent in French? Now, if someone wants to learn a new language, he or she can just go to The Seattle Public Library’s Web site and use the new database, Mango Languages.
To reach Mango Languages, go to www.spl.org and click on “Databases & Web Sites.” Next, click on “Literacy/ESL” and then “Mango Languages.” If not on a library computer, one will need to log in with a library card number.
Mango Languages users can learn Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Greek, Russian and Mandarin Chinese. Also, Spanish speakers can use Mango Languages to learn English.
To begin using Mango Languages, users click on the language they wish to learn and then select a lesson from the dropdown menu titled “Lesson Selection.” The narrator then leads them through their lessons. ♦
