EDITORIAL: Contributors, you’re the tops!

Last week, many in the Asian community came together to honor their own — if anyone can call the wildly diverse countries of China, Korea, Vietnam, Nepal, Japan, and Philippines all one’s own, which they do. It was the Northwest Asian Weekly’s annual Top Contributors celebration at the House of Hong.

Skyway man victim of mortgage scam — Legal aid saves local homeowner from fraud

By Jason Cruz Northwest Asian Weekly Yao Fou Hinh Chao is a trusting man. But after two loan mortgage modification scams bilked him out of more than $4,500, putting him at risk of losing his Skyway home to foreclosure, the 60-year-old Chao did not know whom to trust.

New housing project in Southeast Seattle goes green

The name for a new affordable-housing project in Seattle’s Rainier Valley seems to be a perfect fit since it’s located next door, at 3925 South Bozeman Street, to the Lao Highland Community Center. “Samaki” is a Lao word that means “people” or “individuals coming together.”
