The Wing opened its “Fashion: Workroom to Runway” exhibit on Aug. 9, with an opening reception featuring designs from national and local designers, including Gei Chan, Banchong Douangphrachanh, Harold Kodo, Hisako Nakaya, Josie Natori, Malia Peoples, Andy South, Chrissy Wai-Ching, and Luly Yang.
On display were garments from featured designers, like a 1977 “Folkloric Gunne Sax” dress by designer Gei Chan and mixed fabric dress by Trina Turk. The exhibit traces the experience of Asian Pacific Americans and their resulting impact on the fashion and garment industry. (end)
