YES! Magazine will celebrate a “Year of People Power in the U.S. and Beyond” at Town Hall on June 6 a 7 p.m. The attendees will include slack-key guitarist Makana, who made national headlines last fall when he performed his Occupy anthem, “We Are the Many,” for President Barack Obama and other APEC leaders gathered in Hawaii. Also scheduled to attend are Puanani Burgess, a native Hawaiian facilitator and consultant in community development, Alice Walker, author of “The Color Purple,” and Frances Moore Lappé, author of “Diet for the Small Planet.” Proceeds from the event will benefit YES! Magazine.  (end)
