Ticiang Diangson, director of Seattle Public Utilities Environmental Justice and Service Equity (EJSE) Division of the Human Resources and Service Equity Branch, was awarded the 2011 Management in Race and Social Justice Award by the Seattle Management Association (SMA) on Dec. 8 at the Columbia Tower Club.
Among other accomplishments, Diangson was cited for her passion and commitment to addressing race and social justice in Seattle. In the 1980s, she introduced successful outreach programs to support the city’s first recycling program. Later, during the late 1990s, she successfully co-wrote a grant application to the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that SPU’s program and services would be accessible to historically under-included communities.
