On Nov. 6, the Filipino Community of Seattle (FCS) will celebrate its 75th anniversary. Alma Q. Kern is its 27th president.
FCS serves more than 6,000 members around the Puget Sound area and is home to programs serving children and families, youth, and seniors.
“In the last two years, we focused on developing programs for the children and families and the youth, and I am proud to say that these programs are now up running and growing,” said Kern.
A video portraying 75 years of progress will be shown during the daytime and gala events.
The daytime event is dubbed “Barrio Fiesta” (community celebration). The celebration includes cultural and modern entertainment.
The formal gala event will open with keynote speaker U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott. 2010 Winter Olympian JR Celski and Arnaldo Innocentes are among the special guests. Maria Arcega-Dunn of Q13 FOX News will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. ♦
