Judy Chu starts anti-hazing petition

August 20, 2012 By Northwest Asian Weekly

Judy Chu

After closely following the military hazing case of Private Danny Chen and feeling disturbed by what transpired during the trials of his perpetrators, Congressmember Judy Chu of California’s 32nd congressional district wrote a recent op-ed to the New York Times called, “Military Hazing Has to Stop.”

The op-ed highlighted the Harry Lew Military Hazing Accountability and Prevention Act, introduced by Chu, and called for the Senate to act on passing the Act. Chu has also created a petition calling for the Department of Defense to enforce a zero-tolerance policy for hazing in the military. (end)
