Humanitarian award honors 20 students

June 4, 2009 By Northwest Asian Weekly

Vietnamese American award winner Daniel Nguyen from Franklin High School

On May 13, in addition to 20 extraordinary high school students receiving the American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) Max Block Awards, three students were selected as award finalists to receive the inaugural Deborah Rosen Scholarships.

The first Rosen Scholarships are being awarded to Daniel Nguyen from Franklin High School, Elinor Paulus from Ingraham High School, and Dimitri Woods from Lakeside School.

The scholarships were named by the AJC Seattle Chapter in honor of longtime board leader and community activist Deborah Rosen, who established an education endowment in order to fund three $2,500 scholarships to be given annually to the program finalists.
