The Wilderness Inner-City Leadership Development (WILD) Youth program hosted an “Iron Chef” event to present to the community what they learned from the WILD Master Composter/Soil Builder program this summer.
The students spent the summer learning about water quality, watershed issues, wastewater management, and the impacts of pollution on marine biology. They also took trips to various locations around Washington state to work on environmental stewardship projects with the U.S. Forest Service and worked on the Danny Woo International District Community Garden.
The teams — International District-Chinatown Community Center, WILD Youth, and Seattle Tilth — used the organic ingredients that the youth grew this summer in the event. ♦
