Last week, Northwest Asian Weekly reported that Fa Shin Chan Temple was one of the great attractions in the International District. A photo of its Buddha with a thousand hands, made in China, was featured.
A fire struck the temple right after the paper went to press. It is hard to believe that the temple was destroyed because we were recently there.
The upstairs of the temple housed 25 immigrants, and they instantly lost their home. The lesson for immigrants is this: insurance is a necessity in American society. You don’t need to buy lots of coverage. Some protection is better than none. The future is often unpredictable. Do you have a plan B? ♦
