On Dec. 2, Seattle Mayor-elect Mike McGinn held a town hall meeting at the Langston Hugh Theater. Facilitated by former State Rep. Kip Tokuda, attendees were supposed to give McGinn input on how to make Seattle a better city.
“[Seattle Mayor-elect Mike] McGinn explained that rather than making courtesy calls to all the council members, he thought it better to just walk over and meet face to face on a casual basis,” said Seattle City Councilmember Nick Licata in a release. “This is a departure from Mayor Nickel’s style, which was to rely more on his deputy mayor Tim Ceis to walk the council hallway.”
It is a testament to our API community’s evolution and growth that we have different opinions while focusing on common goals relating to the community.
In the first round of the Seattle City Council candidates’ forum at the Wing Luke Asian Museum, there was only one black male were among eight white males seated at the panel.
