Cheryl Chow, educator and former city council member, passes away at 66

Cheryl Chow, former member of the Seattle School Board and city council and daughter of the late Chinatown leader Ruby Chow, passed away at her home on Friday, March 29. She was 66 years old.

By Staff Northwest Asian Weekly After a long and accomplished record of public service as a city councilmember and working with the Seattle School District, Cheryl Chow announced Wednesday, May 27, ahead of next week’s filing period for elective office, that she will not run for a second term on the school board.

Going international

Beacon Hill Elementary School celebrates becoming an international school this fall. Beacon Hill is only the third international school in the district joining the John Stanford International School and Hamilton International Middle School.
