Joel de la Fuente stars in Jeanne Sakata’s one-man show, “Hold These Truths,” inspired by the true story of University of Washington student Gordon Hirabayashi as he fought the U.S. government’s forcible and unconstitutional removal and incarceration of all people of Japanese ancestry on the West Coast during World War II.
The Seattle chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) is accepting applications from student members in Washington state for two scholarships — the Northwest Journalists of Color Scholarship and the Founders’ Scholarship.
Two films will be shown for the series “Nikkei Heroes” at the Nagomi Tea House, 519 Sixth Ave. S., in Seattle’s Chinatown/International District.
A reception was held at Albert Shen’s house to honor those in new positions appointed by Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, King County Executive Dow Constantine, and Governor Chris Gregoire.
