I was with a group of Filipino teenagers, who worked in a farm picking grapes in Delano in the summer of 1965.
About 200 people showed up to honor local police at the 2013 Ethnic Community Awards Banquet on Nov. 12 at the Filipino Community Center. The “Community Achievement Award” was given to Sergeant Jay Shin, and also to Mayor Mike McGinn for all he did for the ethnic community over the years.

The Filipino Community of Seattle (FCS) is hosting its First Annual Benefit “Luau Fiesta” from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 22 at the Filipino Community Center. This is FCS’ first annual benefit.
