Last week, I went to the Seattle Symphony’s performance of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony at Benaroya Hall. Later, I watched Dr. Ken Jeong, medical doctor-turned-actor and stand-up comedian, on Jay Leno’s show through TiVo.

It was a rare treat to see China’s Romeo and Juliet dance concert performed by the Beijing Dance Academy Youth Dance Company at the Paramount Theater last weekend. I stayed for the 25-minute dance drama even though it was placed last on the program.

Jan. 17: Carnival China Style comes to Seattle
The 2010 Carnival China Style showcased ethnic art forms, folk traditions, and customs that make up Chinese culture. It took place at Benaroya Hall and was made possible by the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Washington Chinese Art & Culture Committee, and the China Broadcasting Art Troupe. This was the first time this event has come to Seattle.

June 2: An award for CCA’s Al Sugiyama
The Center for Career Alternatives (CCA) Executive Director Alan Sugiyama was presented with an award by Goodwill President and CEO Ken Colling at its appreciation breakfast at Benaroya Hall. CCA was honored as Goodwill’s Outstanding Nonprofit Community Partner for its commitment to changing the lives of disadvantaged youth. ♦
