Asian Pacific American heritage at the Center
On May 2, thousands of people congregated at the Seattle Center House to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month through song, dance, music, art, and displays. There were lion dances, youth drill teams, taiko drummers, and artists from all over the state. The event was presented by the Asian-Pacific Directors Coalition.
April 27: Local students win Coca-Cola scholarships
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awarded one Washington student, Mariel Rodriguez, a $20,000 national scholarship. Four other students, Daniel Nguyen, Nailah Dodd, Alexander Fraser, and Nicolas Barr, were awarded $10,000 regional scholarships.
April 25: Seattle Chinese Athletic Association ends the season with a banquet
The Seattle Chinese Athletic Association (SCAA) ended its 41st year of recreational youth basketball by hosting its awards and appreciation banquet at The Tea Palace in Renton.
April: Qwest gives Kin On $3,000 grant
At the Kin On Community Health Care Center in the International District, Qwest presented Kin On a $3,000 Qwest Family and Work Development Fund grant.
April 29: NAAAP-Seattle, NSHMBA-Seattle, Microsoft join forces for networking and recruiting
The National Association of Asian American Professionals-Seattle partnered with the National Society of Hispanic MBAs-Seattle, Microsoft, and other organizations for the Microsoft Diversity Recruiting & Networking Event.
