Several firefighters and first medical responders were honored at the Seattle Fire Department’s Award Luncheon on May 18.

And Dori Towler was the only Asian American to receive the Civilian award.

Towler is a native Seattleite, a University of Washington graduate, and married with two young boys. She joined the Seattle Fire Department 14 years ago, starting out as a temporary receptionist.

Towler has since worked her way up to senior personnel specialist, a position she’s held since 2007.
